Fall is the season that marks the transition from summer to winter. Daylight duration shortens and temperature significantly decreases. The word Harvest was used to refer to this season before the 16th century. In American English it is called Fall. In British English it is called Autumn.
The fall season is associated with harvest (e.g. pumpkins, apples, corn) and with turning leaves. The popular festivities celebrated in fall are Halloween and Thanksgiving.
